Documentary Sessions

A true-to-life, up to 2-hour session where I step into your world and document it as it naturally unfolds. No posing. No pressure to perform.

Just your family doing something you love—whether that’s a slow day at the lake, a pizza night followed by ice cream, or a quiet evening at home.

This isn’t about perfect behavior or everyone looking at the camera. It’s about being together. The way your life actually feels right now, the moments that will become core memories sooner than you think.

I’m there to observe, anticipate, and preserve what’s already happening.

This kind of session might be for you if

  • You want photos that feel like real life (because they are)
  • Your kids don’t sit still (and you don’t want them to)
  • You care more about connection than perfection
  • You want to remember what life actually looked like in this season

This might not be the right fit if you’re hoping for posed images or a lot of direction.

What documentary sessions can look like

It might look like baking cookies in Grandma’s kitchen, playing games while the next batch is in the oven. Or a slow summer evening at the lake, paddle boards, sandy feet, and s’mores by the fire as the sun goes down.

Sometimes it’s as simple as a pizza and ice cream date at your favorite local spot, or Saturday morning pancakes and cartoons in pajamas.

Other times it’s the everyday rhythms, watering the garden, chalk on the driveway, bikes in the cul-de-sac, or winding down with bedtime routines, bathtime giggles, and rocking your baby in the nursery.

Up to 2 hours together gives your family time to settle in, forget I’m there, and just be.

You’ll receive a curated gallery of hand-edited, high-resolution images that tell the full story of how it felt to be there.

Sessions start at $550.

Before your session

Once you reach out, we’ll choose a date, time, and location that feels natural to your life—usually your home or somewhere meaningful to your family.

After that, I’ll send over your agreement along with a short questionnaire so I can get a feel for your family, what you love doing together, and what matters most in this season.

There’s no need to plan anything elaborate (unless you want to). The beauty of documentary sessions is in the everyday, slow mornings, snack time, playing in the backyard. It’s already enough.

During your session

There’s no posing or pressure to perform. I won’t ask your kids to sit still or look at the camera. Instead, I’ll quietly observe and document what unfolds as you spend time together.

You don’t need to entertain me or do anything differently. Just be with your family.

After your session

Within four weeks, you’ll receive a full curated gallery of hand-edited, high-resolution images that tell your story.

From there, you can download your images, share them with family, and start thinking about how you want to enjoy them, whether that’s prints, albums, or simply having them to look back on for years to come.
